Trademark dispute over the Rummy game wooden box

We have recently engaged in a legal dispute involving a prominent company known for its innovative 3D wooden logic games. The core of the matter revolved around our client’s rights to use a wooden box as packaging for the game of Rummy. Despite the existence of a patent entered in the public domain for this specific type of Rummy game box, another entity has unfairly registered trademarks to monopolize its usage.

To combat this misuse, we acted by submitting before the courts a cancellation action of the two trademarks. While a decision is pending, it should be noted that in a separate case where our client sued for infringement, the trademarks were only partially upheld.

This situation underscores the importance of safeguarding fair competition and preventing the unjust appropriation of rights. We remain committed to advocating for our client’s rightful position in this matter and await further developments in the legal proceedings.
